What programs do you offer?
We offer private lessons, group classes, and ensembles, including piano, violin, voice, guitar, drums, orchestra, choir, jazz ensemble, and handbells.

Northside School of Music is located at 2200 Fremont Ave, North Minneapolis, MN 55411. Specific locations for classes and ensembles, like Victory Care Center for choir, will be shared upon registration.

How do I sign up for lessons or classes?

What instruments do you teach?
We offer lessons in violin, piano, voice, flute, clarinet, saxophone, cello, electric bass, guitar, drums, handbells, music theory, and composition.

Do you offer online classes?
Yes, we offer online lessons through Google Meet. You must have the required technology and a stable internet connection.

How much do lessons and classes cost?
What is the sliding scale, and how does it work?
Our sliding scale allows families to select a payment tier that fits their budget. We offer flexible payment options to ensure financial barriers do not prevent participation.

How do I pay for lessons and fees?
Payments can be made through our Community Portal. Balances are due upon receipt of the monthly invoice, with cards on file billed on the 5th of each month.
Instrument Rentals and Costs
Can I rent an instrument through the Northside School of Music?
Yes! We offer affordable instrument rentals with rates based on our sliding scale.
What instruments are available for rent?

We have a $0 rental tier for families in need and additional support to ensure everyone can access an instrument.


Policies and Attendance
What is your attendance policy?
Students are expected to attend all scheduled lessons, classes, and rehearsals. Please notify us of any absences through the Community Portal or by contacting our office.
Do you offer makeup lessons or refunds for missed classes?
Generally, we do not offer makeup lessons or refunds for student absences. Exceptions may apply if a substitute teacher is unavailable or an instructor cancels.
What happens if a class is canceled due to weather?
We may offer online alternatives or issue credits if an in-person class is canceled due to inclement weather. Updates will be shared via social media, email, and text.
How do I pay for lessons and fees?

Photo and Media Policy
Will photos or videos be taken during classes?
Yes, we may take photos or videos for promotional purposes. By participating, you authorize Northside School of Music to use these materials unless you provide written notice opting out.

What if I want to discontinue enrollment?
To discontinue lessons or classes, please email Notes@Northsidemusic.org with the student’s name and the last class date. Verbal notice to teachers is not sufficient.
Can I schedule a tour or meet the staff before enrolling?
