Music programs for all ages in North Minneapolis
Welcome to Northside School of Music! We offer affordable music lessons and music classes for all ages and abilities. Whether you’re picking up an instrument for the first time or refining your skills, we have something for everyone. Our classes foster creativity, community, and a love of music.
All ensembles are free of charge.
Our Programs
Piano Programming
Our piano classes are for all skill levels. Whether learning your first melody or refining your technique, our instructors provide individualized attention to help each student succeed.
Group Violin Programming
Join our supportive group violin classes, which are perfect for beginners who want to start learning the fundamentals in a fun, social setting.
Private Lessons
We offer one-on-one lessons for various instruments, including violin, piano, voice, guitar, drums, flute, clarinet, saxophone, cello, upright bass, electric bass, music theory, and composition. Choose the instructor and lesson type that best fits your needs.
Orchestra
Join the Northside Orchestra and explore a mix of traditional and contemporary music. The orchestra is open to instrumentalists proficient in note reading and meets on Monday nights from 6:00 to 7:15 PM.
Community Choir
Sing together with others in a welcoming choir environment, building vocal skills and harmonizing for fun and inspiration. Our choir meets Monday evenings from 7:15 to 8:15 PM at the Victory Care Center.
Jazz Ensemble
Our Jazz Ensemble explores blues, funk, Latin, and jazz music. This group welcomes all instruments and is a great opportunity to practice improvisation and ensemble playing. All ensembles are also free of charge. Meetings are on Monday nights from 7:15 to 8:00 PM.
Handbells
We play a wide variety of level 1–2 music on 3 octaves of Schulmerich handbells. In addition to building our reading music chops we use lots of bell techniques and have fun doing it! Introductory lessons for absolute beginners are also available when needed to prep for joining the ensemble.
Group Guitar
Unlock your musical potential with our guitar lessons. Whether you’re picking up a guitar for the first time or building on what you already know, our instructors will guide you at your own pace, focusing on the styles and songs you love most.
Ukulele
Learn to play the ukulele and bring joyful, breezy melodies to life. Whether you’re just starting out or exploring new techniques, our ukulele lessons offer a relaxed and engaging way to grow your skills and have fun with music.
